Sorting on a badly designed database (Access 2000)

    Hello,
I've inherited a database where names are kept in the one column (i.e. the field contains both forename and surname with a gap between). Is there any way I can get a query/report to ignore the forename and sort by surname.

    Thank you very much
    Penny

Create a calculated field in your query and make it something like this:

Mid([NameField],Instr([NameField], " ")+1)

Then just sort on that column.
