    help with 'who said it'

Some questions in a charity quiz have had me "googly - cross - eyed" over the holiday. Anyone here help with these?

    Quotations or who said that:

    1. "Mind my bike"

    2. "Canadians are Americans without Disneyland"

    3. "A sheep in sheep's clothing"

    Entertainment:

What type of animal was the TV puppet Fred Barker

Which band was known as the "Band that nearly never was"

Which fictional Bear lived in Bear Pit in Berne

Thanks in advance for any answers that will allow me to fall asleep with more ease!!

    3) I think it was originated by <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">J.B. Morton</span hide> though it was also "borrowed" by <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">Wiinston Chrurchill to describe Ramsay MacDonald</span hide>

[I googled to check my memory and get the details, but had heard this before Is this a knowledge puzzle or a google puzzle?]

Without checking I would guess that "Fred Barker" was a <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">dog</span hide> (though I never heard of this puppet.)

no this is one of nearly a hundred questions for a charity quiz to be submitted by end of month (just a bit of local fun). You had more luck with google than I did as Ive been searching google for the answers I dont know for several days.

    1) Fred Barker looks like a dog: http://www.whirligig-tv.co.uk/tv/children/.../fred_ollie.jpg

    2) Here are some details about the "a sheep in sheep's clothing" quote http://www.qunl.com/rees0001.html

Re: help with 'who said it'

#1 was a catch-phrase from ITMA (It's That Man Again) - and yes, I did know it before Googling...!
#3 was said by Winston Churchill, of Clement Atlee

It would be surprising if Fred Barker wasn't a dog...

And perhaps I have found the origin of your quiz?!

    John

PS I did these answers without reading any previous posts, so apologies for similarities!

PPS I'd actually go with Nigel Rees rather than Wikipedia for number 3...

<hr>3 was said by Winston Churchill, of Clement Atlee<hr>

The reference that I gave said that this is incorrect: Churchill corrected it and said that he said it about Ramsay MacDonald. But Churchill did not originate it, he "borrowed it" from J.B Morton.

Re: help with 'who said it'

The "official answer" for the "Quiz" will be whom they believe (not neccessarily the truth).

Many of these types of quizzes (as many aspects of life) do not depend on real truth but on the perception of it. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Re: help with 'who said it'

You are correct regards ITMA (thank you for directing me to this) and more specifically apparently was a catch phrase of Jack Warner used by him in various BBC post WW2 radio shows. Isn't it remarkable the interesting snippets you find when you know where to look
