    transferring files (XP Pro SP2)

I have a recurring problem in transferring files across a peer-to-peer network. I get an error message when trying to move pdf files:

    cannot copy "filename": Access Denied
Make sure disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

this pdf file doesn't have properties that appear different from any of the other 20 or 30 files I've already copied over. the disk is neither right protected or full and the file is not in use.

any suggestions as to what might be causing this problem?

All pdf file or just the one ??? Can you move the file/ files to another medium, like a flash drive, floppy disk, CD or other external storage medium ??? Can you copy it over instead of moving it ??

Do you have write permissions set on the shared drive that you are trying to copy to?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I'm copying (not moving as I previously stated) a directory full of pdf files I created and it stops at a selected few.
This happens when I'm pulling from another computer, not when I push to another computer.
    I can burn to CD/DVD.
My USB ports don't work (after 2 hard drives and 3 motherboards from Gateway I gave up)
Sharing is set for full access in all directions.

If you are getting that error message then something is using or has hold of those particular files. Download a copy of the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> utility Unlocker. It will allow you to see which program is causing the problem and allow you to unlock them so that they can be moved, copied or deleted.
