    Page Formatting ideas?

    I am just sprucing up my site over the Christmas break and was just checking my CSS validation via W3C and all though it validated correctly I had one warning. Now I know this is a mild irritant but it would be nice to get it correct.

    It states - .puzzle ul Same colors for background-color and color

    The CSS is this:

    .puzzle ul {
    list-style-position : inside;
    list-style-type : none;
    color : #ffffff;
    background-color : #ffffff;
    border : 1px solid #006699;
    }

    You will note that the backgrond colour is the same as the font colour #FFFFFF (white) and gives this effect

    <span style="background-color: #FFFFFF;"><font color=white>Hidden Answer</font color=white></span hiwhite> (highlight the white bar)

    Can anybody think of another CSS idea that will allow me to hide the answer without resorting to javascript?

    Me, I'd just be tempted to ignore the warning, because what you are doing is entirely intentional (although isn't it traditional to use yellow on yellow?!).

    Two thoughts:
    .Cascade the background colour so that it's not a property of the same style

    .or:
    color : #ffffff;
    background-color : #fffffe;

    (From w3schools. "Snow" (FFFAFA) doesn't show up white text.

    It's an excellent resource for learning to code all things web related.

    Oh I know W3Schools very well, it is my bible and my resource for teaching, it just has the odd page that I haven't had a look at <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Nice one Geoff simplest solution is always the best, I used background-color : #fffffe; in the end as the others were just a little too different and you could see the text, on my LCD screen at least.

    I know it is such a small thing but I wanted to get it righter than right

    You know, in the middle of the night I thought of the idea "change one of the FFs to FE", but by the time I'd woken up again I had forgotten it... Sigh...
