Help needed to see the account From: (2000 SR-1)

Previous posts on this topic haven't helped. I am a comfortable Outlook Express user , but circumstances are forcing me into Outlook. This has been so frustrating for me that I now know why I stay with OE for regular stuff.
I have Outlook set up with 2 accounts.
I have managed to import contacts from an excel file ok. I need to send bulk mailings to clients from a particular account. I have set the account needed to be the default. I have created a mail merge to email 'test message' and it has successfully been created and is sitting in the "outbox" BUT when I click on the outbox the From: column is blank. How can I be sure the receiver will know who to reply to? The view/options are not helpful.
I have not been able to find information on how to show/change the From: field when creating a new message. Best option would be like in OE to be able to change the sender info.
Please don't tell me to open all 300 messages to confirm the From field.
I hope I have explained my problem ok and that there is someone out there who can help. Thanx for any info that can be offered.
Oh! And Happy New Year to all.
    Joan

You ordinarily don't need to fill in the From box. When the mail is sent, the account you're using will automatically be filled in as the sender (and return address).

Happy New Year to you too!

To prevent sending on the second account, add some unlikely characters into the name of the outgoing server (e.g., change smtp.myisp.net to smtp_nowaythisexists.myisp.net). Then you can be certain that all messages that actually went out could only have gone out on the desired account.

Hans & jscher: Thank you for your input. Sigh! It wasn't was I was hoping for. But I'm begining to think that the word account means different things to us.
This pc is a stand alone single user. The two accounts I was referring to were two e-mail accounts. personal@123.com & business@123.com
I suspect that your use of the word account is somehow related to profile (?) or user (?)
All I want to do is make sure that any message I send has the correct e-dress attached to it. In Outlook Express, where I have 6 accounts, (e-dresses) I choose which to send with first before entering the To: and the message.
Sounds to me that Outlook is not too friendly this way & I should stick with Express for the most part.
    Thanx again.

Outlook 2000 has two modes: Corporate/Workgroup (CW) and Internet Mail Only (IMO). Your current mode is indicated in the Help>About dialog next to the Outlook version number.

In IMO mode, there should be a down arrow next to the Send button that lets you choose your outgoing account, sort of a "send using account x" feature. In CW mode, you cannot change the outgoing account "on the fly." If you are in CW mode and want to change to IMO, there is a way to do that, but you should read up on what features might get lost in the switch.

In Outlook 2002 and later, the modes were unified and there is a separate Accounts button next to the Send button to choose your outgoing account. They figured it out eventually! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Added: Sorry I didn't mention this before, but you said you didn't want to open each message...
