Signatures Advanced Edit loads Notepad not Word (2002SP3)

For one unfortunate user, the "not part of Outlook" editor loaded when going through Tools -> Options -> Mail Format -> Signatures -> Edit -> Advanced Edit is NOTEPAD and not the Word that everyone else gets.

Is this a Registry change somewhere? Surely not an Association?

Any ideas? Googling hasn't come up with anything relevant for me.

    Thanks!

It depends on the user's default mail format. For HTML and RTF, Word is started, but for Plain Text, Notepad is used. Do you mean that this user's default mail format is HTML or RTF and yet Advanced Edit starts Notepad?

No - the default email format was Plain Text. Once changed to RTF, everything worked as expected. Thanks, as usual!

I was manually editing an HTML format signature and noticed an RTF one in the Signatures folder. I opened it in Word, and changed the font face and color. Upon saving, it swelled from 1KB to 4KB. I opened and saved it in Wordpad, it and returned to 1KB. Hmmm... I'm not sure Word is the best default editor for signatures...
