    Javascript monitor/debugger

Can anyone recommend a monitor or de###### which could be used to single-step a javascript program, displaying the contents of variables at each step?

I have found a couple on Google, but wonder whether someone could suggest one suitable for someone of almost no javascript experience...

    Thanks

    Re: Javascript monitor/debugger

I just installed the Venkman extension for Firefox, and I can't seem to call it up consistently. (It worked on the first page, but not the next one, even after restarting the browser.)

Occasionally I will accidentally invoke Microsoft's script de###### in IE (you can enable access to it in the Advanced options). However, the environment is alien to me and other than seeing a problem line of script highlighted, I don't know how it works. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

So I look forward to the responses to this thread with interest. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
