opinions requested (win xp pro / outlook 2003)

I run choicemail as a spam white list server. It scurries around every 10 minutes and drains all of my email accounts, verifies valid emails, and hands them to outlook.

I have only recently started traveling and need to access these outlook emails remotely.

I want to get others opinions about what packages work remotely with outlook. Looking for something relatively easy to install, and relatively easy to use, oh yes - also relatively inexpensive. Normally I will be using computers in motels - I don't own a laptop.

    Thank you in advance

    Tom

Can you use webmail? When using another comptuer I use my ISP's webmail for personal, and Outlook Web Access for corporate.

I assume you do not plan to post your messages to another server (external to your PC) for access. If you did, you would have many options. Otherwise, the most practical seems to be to use a remote control program, and carry it around pre-installed on a USB flash drive. (Most public PCs support USB flash drives.) Ideally you could find a program that uses a strong password and a secure connection.

Of course, you also need to make sure the public PC is clean enough that your password and personal data are not recorded... perhaps that's the bigger challenge. I do think there was a thread on the Software or Security board about carrying around a secure portable environment on a USB flash drive, but I can't recall whether it included any remote control software.

I also run choice mail on my personal PC with all of my e-mail accounts except my business account. I also have my personal account on my laptop (No ChoiceMail) and when I am on the road I do not get my personal e-mail because I leave my personal computer on with ChoiceMail running. ChoiceMail is set to check my accounts every 10 minutes and my laptop is set to 5 minutes. When I am home and my laptop receives personal e-mail it does not delete it off of the ISP's server. I have my PC set to do that. My suggestion would be to turn your PC off when you leave, or at least turn ChoiceMail off and then use web mail that I am sure your ISP can help you with. You can choose whether or not to delete the messages while in webmail. If you choose not to delete them then they of course will be on your ISP's server when you return and ChoiceMail when started again will retrieve them for you. If you need to leave your PC on while you are gone, (family to play games etc.) you do not need to turn Outlook off if you have turned ChoiceMail off.
    Thanks John

Thanks - it never occurred to me to turn "Choicemail" off - sounds like the solution

You're welcome <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> glad I could help. Just remember though that if you turn ChoiceMail off, you will not receive e-mails in Outlook until you restart ChoiceMail.
    Thanks John
