Truncated Outoing Messages (XP SP2; Office XP)

With CA Internet Security Suite 2007.

Getting nowhere with CA, so I toss this one out for any ideas. Sec Suite 2006 ran well and with no problems, but I have intermittant problems with 2007. 2007 is putting outbound messages in the outbox compete, but truncating the actual message that goes. The message is not cleared down from the outbox. The result is a stream of truncated mesages. The copy I save in a nominated folder is complete. I therefore dont see the problem directly - only if I notice one of the clues,

There is an error message left in outlook:-
Task 'Domain - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

If I switch off the firewall completely the problem goes away - along with my protection...

    Thanks for any ideas...

Can you isolate the particular feature that is affecting outgoing messages? For example, is there a spam or virus or "content" filter on outbound email? Usually the firewall component doesn't care about the message content, as long it is being dispatched to an unblocked destination server.

Joe, thank you, I found this overnight so got a flying start. One of the things I learned from this article was that you should not uninstall Outlook Express if you want to go on using Outlook - shared files or something. However restoring it made no difference.

Attachments can be any size. messages up to around 20k work, between 20 and 28 they truncate but leave the outbox, above 28 truncate and stick in the outbox, and then go on trying to send. Result is a very embarrasing stream of truncated messages!

I cant find any adjustment to the firewall that solves it, but turning the firewall off sorts it.

    Hey-ho

    thanks again

thanks for input. I have also replied to Joe from yesterday.

the only controls I can find are content independent - number of recipients, rate of sending instances (actually I will try switching that off). sender nme etc. I will go on hunting...

    thanks,

I'm not familiar with CA Internet Security Suite, but if its anti-virus component has an "advanced" option for scanning outbound messages, see if turning that feature off makes a difference.
