Strikethrough line color (Word 2003 SP2)

If I format a sentence with Format > Font > Strikethrough, Word draws a black line through the words in the sentence. I would like to make my strikeout line light gray so the underlying words are more easily read.

    Is this possible?

This is different from the strikeout line used to show deletions in Track Changes, where the strikeout line (and font) appears in a selectable color.

The strikethrough line has the same color as the font - if your text is black, strikethrough is black, and if your text is red, strikethrough is red. There is no way to make the strikethrough line a different color than the text.

Oh well. I was afraid you were going to say that. Thanks for the quick reply.

Undoubtedly I also can't change the strikethrough line width, either?

The line width is determined by the font size, but you can choose between single and double strikethrough.

First time ever. Never before--NEVER!--have I wanted to do something in Word or Excel that Woody's Lounge couldn't figure out how to do.

If something is possible in Word or Excel, you have a pretty good chance that someone in Woody's Lounge can tell you how to do it. But we can't make these programs do the impossible...

You can always draw a horizontal line of the required colour through your text. You can set the anchor to be locked to a character on the line, like in this document.

That works well as long as the text is on one line.

If the text ends up split over two lines because of editing, the line can't handle that, of course.

I guess one could always replace the spaces with non breaking spaces, so that the whole thing moved to the new line together, but that would lead to some very ugly word wrapping.
