    'ghost' data files (2003 sp2)

    Dear Loungers,

I have some "folders" that show in my Outlook Navigation Pane, In fact I have 3 named the same. I cannot close them since it reports that "Set of folders cannot be opened". Properties is greyed for them so I can't find out what the underlying filename was/is. I have a large number of pst files.

Is there a tool to manage these AND to cope with a non-existant file I want to remove from the Mail Folders pane?

    thank you....... liz

    Quit all instances of Outlook.
    Open the Mail control panel.
    Click Data Files...
Are multiple data files listed here? If so, try removing all except one of them.
After closing the dialogs, restart Outlook to see if the problem has gone.

If that doesn't work, create a new profile in the Mail control panel and use that.

    Hans,

I could only see one file. on delint it two of the instances in Outlok dissappeared, but the others remained. So I created a new profile and transferred all my stuff. So now it's OK

    Thank you...........liz
