Accumulation of Amounts from a table (xp & 2003)

I am trying to accumulate a total amount deriving from a table with two variables. the attached table " test for accumulation" has two parts. the upper section is where I tried to write the conditional formula with two variables and accumulate the amounts for each file # for each ID # . the results should be in the area D5 to J21.

The lower section is the table with all the data. It has one or more columns for each ID #. Each row has a file #.

What my result is the accumulated grand total of each ID# for each file#. It should be the accumulated total of each ID # for that particular file#.
Apparently it isn't recognizing the file # variable.

    Thanks

    Try this in A5:

    =SUMPRODUCT(($A$30:$A$50=$A5)*($E$26:$AQ$26=D$1)*$ E$30:$AQ$50)

You can fill it down, then to the right.

This is terrific! Much easier than the conditional suming I was using. I just got done reviewing my formula for the nth time and found the error however, this formula beats mine Hans down.

    Thanks again
