Scrolling doc causes PC to standby (MS Word 2000)

Subject edited by HansV to be a tad less generic than "MS Word 2000"

I dont know if I posted this problem before or not. The problem seems to come and go. I use MS Word 2000 on my win98se PC and when ever I am scrolling a word document that has been enlarged to 150 or larger my PC screen goes black and I receive a small blue box stating "Going into standby". I have to reboot my PC to get back to the word page. This only happens with MS word. I have checked my power management and everything there is set to never, in cluding anything that states "Standby". Can someone help me with this problem? I have done many test for viruses etc. and found nothing. Please reply.

It might be a problem with your video card (low resources?)

Try the following. If it doesn't help, you can restore the original setting.
    - Right-click an empty part of the Windows desktop.
    - Select Properties from the popup menu.
    - Activate the Settings tab.
    - Click Advanced.
    - Activate the Troubleshoot tab.
    - Drag the 'hardware acceleration' slide one or two notches to the left.
    - OK your way out.

Thanks Hans for your reply. I followed your info and rebooted my PC. Went to a few Word documents and tried to scroll them while they were at 150 or larger and my PC did not go to stand by. This never happened before. Is this a sign that the video card is on it's way to the great electronic heaven?

That's hard to say, but I'd keep an eye out for similar problems.
