(Metapad) Default Folder on Save (XP Pro SP2)

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum or not but I'm wondering how to change the default folder that appears when a file is saved. Some programs seem to remember the last folder, but in the case of metapad, for example it always defaults back to it's installation folder which is a nuisance. I'm wondering if there is any registry edit I can do to change the folder it offers when I go to save a file.

    Thanks,

    Chris (Hunt)

Have you tried searching through the registry for where (if ever) Metapad stores its keys?

Often located in HKLMSOFTWARE<name of manufacturer> or perhaps HKLMSOFTWAREMetapad

If you find something, check also in the HKCU hive for corresponding keys.

I found this from a "metapad default save folder" Google search: [24] - Default File Folder.

Thanks Alan, I thought I had read through the FAQ completely, but obviously I hadn't!

On a completely different matter is my post in italic? Every post here is showing up in italic. I'm sure it never used to be that way but since every post looks italic I'm beginning to doubt my memory.

None of this thread is in Italic. Check your font settings.

Thanks Hans, I rebooted the computer and it is back to normal. I'm going to start a separate thread in the XP forum as I discovered other settings in other programs had changed and I wonder what could have caused it.

    Best wishes,

    Chris

Looks like you got your answer, but you might try this next time this sort of thing happens:

In the shortcut properties, add the path to the default directory you want into the "Start in" field. This usually works for programs that don't have the option.

Thanks Rick, that's good to know, now if I can just remember...

    Best wishes,
