    Default region

    I recently reinstalled windows 2000 on my laptop. During the language settings section of the setup, it returned some error, but everything seemed to be working OK. Unfortunately the region setting for a new user now defaults to US, and I want it to default to UK. It is, of course, possible to change this for each new user, but I'd like to change the default for a new user. Is there any way to do this without reinstalling windows?

    Thanks

    Re: Default region

    To set default language and code page to English (UK), check following Registry settings:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlNl sLanguageDefault - (not "(Default)" ! )
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlNl sLanguageInstallLanguage

    in both keys set value = 0809 (if it is 0409, it corresponds to English (US) )

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlNl sLocale(Default)

    Value = 00000809

    Brilliant. Thanks a lot. Obviously needed the right key words, as neither of those articles turned up in the first 100 hits for "default region" on MSKB.
