Palm - multiple users on 1 PC?

How can I set up multiple users with different Palm devices on 1 PC? I want to keep my regular Clie updated with Outlook and some applications. In addition, I want to get a cheap Palm like the Z22 for everyday use (with a subset of non-vital information) and synced with just a couple of applications.
I imagine I should be able to add a user to the sync conduit and specify what gets synced, but I'm not sure how to do this and want to know before buying the 2nd Palm.
    Anyone try this?
    TIA
    Mark

When you HotSync, you are asked for a user name. However, I've never had more than one set up on the same computer except by accident. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Re: Palm - multiple users on 1 PC?

    Hi Mark,

In my previous working life, I provided support to my fellow workers and our Palm Pilots. There were a couple of common databases that were to be shared with the group. On a number of occasions a few of the members would mess up their copies so I decided to be the distributor / maintainer of the databases.

What I did was to add each user's name to my Palm Desktop using the included feature within the desktop software. I just had to make sure that the spelling of the name was exactly as that recorded on their Palm Pilot.

After that everything was easy. When the need arose to update a database, I would use HotSync which provided a drop down menu showing the various users. Selecting the appropriate user from the list I was able to sync the required file with their Palm Pilot.

In your stated example of you yourself having two devices, you would have to ensure that the declared owner names on the devices were spelled differently. Perhaps using a full first name and surname on the first device while using initials for the first name on the second device.

    Cheers, Bob
    Regards,
    Bob
