    Autocomplete (2003 SR2)

Autocomplete has stopped working on my desktop. Searched this forum and found that problem is probably a corrupt Outlook.nk2 file. I tried to rename it to OutlookOld.nk2 before replacing it with a good copy from my Laptop. I got an error msg saying I couldn't do that because file is in use by another program or person. Outlook is closed and I am the only one logged into this PC. Is the happening because it's a system file? How do I fix this?

Have you checked with Task Manager to ensure that Outlook is gone? Have you tried re-naming immediately after a re-boot before running Outlook?

Thanks for the Task Mgr tip. Outlook was still running (a backup related window was hidden). After I closed that it still wouldn't rename, so I rebooted. That fixed it and my Autocomplete is now working again.

I spoke too soon. The problem came back today. Any idea what might cause the corruption?
