BitDefender

Have been running BitDefender as my default AV system for about a week now. I'm getting little pop-up messages about "Port Scanning" attempts. What does this message mean?

    Thanx mucho.

    From the Softpedia website:

The BitDefender firewall module is now able to automatically detect and block port scans. A port scan is a simple way to find out whether your computer might be vulnerable by trying to connect to ports to see if there

Port scans are so common that it is not worth being notified. If you can turn off the notifications, your day will be less stressful.

(I suppose the exception would be when your router has assigned your computer a private address using NAT. If you are port scanned in that scenario, there might be an attacker on your own network.)

Thank you, I'll just leave it ON and then I'll know it's doing something for the money.
