    Protecting certain pages (2002 SP3)

    Hi,

I have a document of old documentation notes. I would like to protect this text while being able to add new notes to the document. It would be nice to insert the new text among the old text but I could live with just adding the new text to the end of the document.

I could go to Word 2003 if it supports what I want to do.

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards,

    Jimmy

Protection in a Word document is on a section-by-section basis. So you'd have to insert section breaks before and after the places in the document where you want to be able to enter new text.
Write down the numbers of the sections you want to be editeable (the section number of the selection/insertion point is displayed in Word's status bar).

When you have created the sections, select Tools | Protect Document...
Select the Forms option button, then click Sections...
Clear the check boxes for the sections that should remain unprotected.
Then OK your way out (you can set a password if you like)
