Autofill (2003)

This is drivin' me nuts! I did a search on autofill and found a lot of info (particularly <!post=Han's post,248858>Han's post<!/post> ) but I guess I just don't get it. At this point I can't make any data entry whatsoever on the form I've screwed it up so bad. I want to have the Job Site combo box auto fill the address info. I figured I could do this with a query (as per Hans). Any help greatly appreciated.

The record source of the form is the query qryMaster. This query is not updateable. This is because the link between the two tables doesn't have a unique index on either side.

The tblMaster table contains a text field txtJobSite. This is not correct. It should contain a number field lngJobID that is linked to the ID field in the tblJobSites table. The latter field should be the primary key of tblJobSites.

The tables in the query should be linked on lngJobID vs ID. Since ID is now the primary key, the query will be updateable.

The design of the combo box on the form must be bound to lngJobID, and the row source should include the ID field. See the attached version.

    Re: Autofill (2003)

I see (said the blind man).

Part of what threw me was in the other demo (I don't believe that was created by you) it shows a relationship between "Name" and "ID". I thought that was kind of weird, but I tried it anyway (File Type Mismatch). Now that I look at that table in the demo again I see where "Name" is actually a number. Also, there is no "vets" table as discribed in your text on that post (I guess the original poster changed it) so I was also confused as to what table you refered to.

Not making excuses here (no, really! ), I confuse myself without any help whatsoever, but I was really by the time I tried to apply the demo to my application.

A million thanks for bailing me out of trouble again!
