    Microsoft Media Player 11

I installed Microsoft Media Player over a month ago and did not notice that it does not recognize my HP cd16F cd writer which has always been installed on my desktop.

When I go to tools and options in Media Player 11 it is listed as the cd writer and I press F5 to refresh as media player requests me to do. I go to hardware and everything checks out there.

I can record on HP Record now and Media Player 11 allows CD's to play, it just says it does not recognize the cd burner and asks me to install and start media player again.

I rolled back to Media Player 10 and it still does recognize my cd writer.

" Roxio Drag to Disc and Sonic DLA lock the optical drives to appear as hard drives. This blocks WMP from burning to disc. Turn them off if you want to burn with WMP."

The prior sentences are from WMP Mini-FAQ: A trouble-shooting guide for Windows Media Player problems. written by a member of the WMP team on his own time.
