Translation Tools (2003)

Does anyone know of a plug in for Word 2003 to translate Chinese to English; or something similar to perform the translation?

AltaVista - Babel Fish Translation offers Chinese (simplified and traditional) to English translation, but based on my experiences with its efforts with European languages (English, German, French, Dutch), I wouldn't expect much.

A Google search returns many hits, e.g. Speed EICQ which claims to translate Word .doc files, but I have no idea how good it is.

Thanks Hans - I've also tried the google search - I'm working with large documents and a plug in or application would be better suited for my needs. I've used Babel to translate short words or phrases, but I don't think it would handle my documents.

There is an add-on for Firefox, called Foxlingo, that might be worth looking at.
It offers convenience in using the various available options (such as google,
etc.), and includes Chinese (Traditional and Simplified). As to the pessimism
that has been suggested, on the basis of my experiences I'd second it.
But these aids can still be helpful.

Just for entertainment sake, I took the text from <post:=628,620>post 628,620</post:> and asked Google to translate it to simplified Chinese. I then took the output from that and asked Google to translate it back to English. This is what I ended up with.

Another added as a perfect foxlingo VS. might be worth exploring. It provides a convenient use of the various options (such as Google). including Chinese (traditional and simplified). Some people say that the pessimism, according to my experience, My second. But AIDS can help.

Thanks for all the replies - turns out the translation was not needed I installed the East Asian Language support in XP and this was sufficient for our client. Thanks again for the replies.
