Can't Type in Text Box (2007)

I'm using Office 2007 but saved the database as 2003 compatible. I have placed a Text Box on a form with the idea of letting users type data that will be captured for later use. No matter how I go about it, can't type in the Text Box. What could I be doing wrong? Thanks!

Re: Can't Type in Text Box (2007)

I haven't seen Access 2007 yet, so I don't know if there is something new there causing the problem,

The text box is on a form. What is the Record Source of the form? is it a table or a query. If it is a query it could be a non updateable query. To test this, open the query and see if you can type directly into the field there.

The problem could be with the form. The form as a whole might not Allow Edits. or the Texxtbox might be Locked, or not Enabled. To look for these things, Open the Properties Box (assuming there is still such a thing) then look around the properties of the form, and the textbox.

To do this, you need to be in Design View. then use to the Menus to View...Properties. the Properties Box tells you about one thing at a time.
    Regards
    John

The text box is on a form but it is unbound. I opened the query and I can type directly. The form allow edits. The Textbox is unlocked and enabled. Really don't know what else to do. Thanks, anyway!

Have you got a Access 2003 to test it there? Does it happen in Access 2003 as well?

Do other things work on that form? The form is connected to a query. Are there existing records ? Do the fields show up OK, and can be edited?

Can you post a cut down version, with the offending form?
    Regards
    John

To cmfdave; the .mdb is not READ ONLY. I checked ...

To: johnhutchison; the form is connected to a query the the existing records can be seen. However, the fileds are set so as not to allow editing.

Can't attach the mdb. It's 1.5Mb. Thanks for any assistance!

See <post#=401925>post 401925</post#> for instructions on how to post a stripped down copy of your database.

That's all right. I'll take some time off. My "brain" is burning. Wish you all the best!
