    MRU Option greyed out (2003)

At work we use W2K as the OS and all service packs are installed. We use Office 2003. The option in Excel to show the MRU list in the TOOLS>OPTIONS>GENERAL tab is greyed out and the MRU List does not function or show at all. We do not have TweakUI. Today the IT dept. did a repair of Office, including a defrag, with no results. Is there a fix for this?

MSKB article The "Most recently used" list is missing from the File menu, and the "Recently used file list" option is unavailable in Office XP and in Office 2003 explains which regsitry item might be responsible. If you have local admin rights, you can delete this item or set it to 0.

I changed the registry value and it worked.

    Thank you Hans!
