    Report Resourcing (Access 2K3/SQL)

Here is a poser I fumbled through as I reckon there maybe more than one answer.

If I have an Access front end sitting on a client PC connected to a SQL server back end, when I request a report will I be using the client PC resources or the SQL processor resources?

Sorry for the open endedness of this question.

Both: SQL Server has to provide the data, and Access has to format the report.
If your report is based on standard query, all records from the underlying tables will be transferred from the SQL Server database to the local PC, and all selecting/sorting/grouping will be done in Access (locally).
But if the report is based on a pass-through query, SQL Server processes it, and only pushes the result of the query to Access.

    Lovely, we agree <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    I have a Access dabbler user who says otherwise... <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
