Re: MiTeC Windows Registry File Viewer

    Thanks, Alan.

Never had a need for that, but now I'll be prepared in case one should arise.

    MiTeC Windows Registry File Viewer

I noticed a revived thread, Import Registry, so went out hunting and managed to find something I've been after for some time. On numerous occasions I've been faced with a scenario something like this:

Back up portions of or entire HD content

Do a clean install of an existing or new O/S on empty HD

After the event, find a need to look through old registry to find/export settings, serial#s, whatever[/list]In other words, use Regedit on an external registry. Unfortunately, neither Regedit nor any of the enhanced clones I've found will do this - they're "hard wired" to the system registry. So the choices were to (try to remember to) export the original registry to text before wiping the HD, then use a text viewer to rumage through, or if I forgot and was stuck with just the original .DAT files, to do it even harder, rumaging through a treeview-structued file, displayed as plain text! Either way, a posterior pain.

But now (after the event, as usual ) I hit on MiTeC Windows Registry File Viewer. It appears to do exactly what I want(ed) - namely to view old archived registries as I could in Regedit. I'll do some testing on old .DAT files and report any problems.
Standalone program (no installer) 818KB, and of course!
