    Open linked documents (Excel 2003)

Is it possible to create an Excel worksheet that would be a index to other Excel and Word documents?
I would like one central Excel file to contain links that would open other files both in Excel and Word pertaining to a certain subject.
This would be like a index page to all similar documents. This way one could access all document pertaining to a particular subject in one place.
By clicking the individual links it would open that document for revision.

As always, I appreciate your suggestions.

Select a cell, then click "Hyperlink..." on the Insert menu. Then click on the File button and browse to the file you want the link to and click on it. Type the label you want for the file in the "Text to display" box and click OK. The cell should now contain a link which will open the file when you click on it.

Just tried your suggestion and it worked prefect. I like the idea of naming the links to make sense.
Would this also work in a Word document?

Thank you Legare for your speedy reply.

You can insert hyperlinks into a Word document the same way.

    Thanks Hans,
That's one of the great things about microsoft products. There is many similarities between programs.
