Start Menu ordering? (Vista Ultimate)

When you mouseover or click on "All Programs" in the Start Menu and open a folder to view the contents, at least on my system, they are displayed in reverse order, i.e., the files are first and then the folders are last. This is opposite of how all previous versions of Windows displayed folder contents; Folders first and then individual files. This wouldn't be so irritating except there doesn't appear to be the option to "Sort by name" in Vista's Start Menu, again as was the case in all previous versions of Windows. Am I missing something here or is there in fact no longer a way to sort items on the Start Menu?

Can you drag and drop them where you want them ?? Can you right click on the Start menu and select Properties ?? These are old XP (and earlier Windows) tricks. My XP, All Programs menu doesn't open as a folder with view options at the top.

Jeff,
I do NOT think this can be changed, it has been this way for all versions I have played with.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Dave, it would appear that this option has been removed. As an aside, I also noticed that "Pinball" has also been removed..... ack!! That is the only game that came with Windows I liked too.

@DocWatson: Well, I could drag & drop entries, but with so many items involved, I can't get motivated to do that. hehe The option to "Sort by name" no longer appears in the context menu but rather in the Start Menu properties dialog. I'm forced to conclude, it is either let Windows sort items as they now appear or nothing at all.
