need quick conditional format equations (2002)

I have a specification database where I have things like date of manufacture, product, lot number, individual test results, and specification range for the individual test results. the specs would be a simple 112-220 range.

I would like to have conditional format tell me if the individual test is out of spec. (red=high, blue=low).

any ideas? This database contains information that I have collected over 3 years and contains well over 2,000 data sets.

See the attached example. Click in one of the cells of the table and select Format | Conditional Formatting to see the formulas.
In the example, the font color is changed; you could easily change the cell fill color instead.

Re: need quick conditional format equations (2002)

Hans, thanks. In my database, I have the low-high in the same cell, though. Would I have to use something like index or offset? I could always split the column in 2 making one low and the other high but I have my Certificate of Analysis form calling on the low-high cell. I'd could change that formula to include cell&"-"&cell, I suppose.

Just looking for a cleaner way, if possible.

Using separate cells is by far the easiest and most logical way to do it, but it can be done with one cell. See attached version.
