Interactive world map (N/A)

Not sure where to post this query, but here goes. This is not directly to do with any particular function in Powerpoint - I use StarOffice Impress - but to do with where to obtain source material for a slide. I need to present a slide showing a flat map of the world, with a group of about 100 countries highlighted, and another highlighting a subset of about 60 countries. Is there any kind of interactive webservice or cheap/free programme which allows you create such maps? Googleearth has been suggested but it's no good for this.

See if you can use DIY Map. It is free for personal, educational, and non-commercial use, otherwise US$20.

If you're just after a blank world map so that you can highlight the countries of your choice using your favourite image editing software, Image:Newworldmap.png is a public-domain image that you can use for whatever purpose you want for . If you need a refresher of which country's which, see this.

Wow, this is very timely for a Flash project I'm doing now. I like both this one and the one Waggers suggested. I am completing a Flash tool which displays charts from a $$$ research study my company paid for which covers 5 regions and 35 countries. I found a nice world map which I used as a graphic but wanted to do something more interactve (w/o me having to manually color each little bitty country). I have one Flash program per region and these maps will make it even better. I think I'll use the 'click the country' feature to display total revenue potential for that country. Way cool!!!

Thank you for bring these map sources to my attention.
