    Problems Shutting Down (Windows XP)

For some reason after I click on the shut down button, the screen says "Windows is shutting down", but it never shuts down. The screen stays on till I hit the main switch on the back of the computer. What can cause this?

Re: Problems Shutting Down (Windows XP)

    Hi Daniel,
    Welcome to the Lounge.
Shutdown problems come in many shapes and forms but usually it's from a damaged device driver, a shutdown sound file or a legacy program having compatibility problems or similar things.
There is a Windows shutdown and start up troubleshooter that shows you many possible solutions to the problem.

You can get to it at this link. SHUTDOWN

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!
