    Hidden drives

I have a problem in 'seeing' the partitions of an external hard drive in My Computer. Sometimes I can see them, or rather the partitions on a single drive, but most of the time with a particular computer I cannot. I can always see them in their proper place with a full set of details (size and 'Healthy') in the standard bar diagram if I go to Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | Administrative Tools | Computer Management | Disk Management (where they are treated as internal, not external, drives). The sectors all have names that I have assigned to them clearly visible, but there are no drive letters for them, which may be the problem.

Without a means of seeing them in My Computer or in some other such place, I cannot read from them nor write to them. They are not intended to be hidden drives, but I may have stumbled into that unwittingly. Only three drive letters on the computer are taken

In disk management are you are to right click a partition and select 'Change Drive Letter and paths...'?

Thanks Joe. That must be the all-time speed record for a perfect answer.
