windows explorer has experienced a problem (win xp)

    I have win xp sp2

I have been putting up with a problem for about 5-6 months as I dont know how to fix it
I have even reinstalled win xp.

I can be in the middle of somthing with one or more Windows Explorer windows open
and suddenly I get a Pop Up MS box which says " windows explorer has experienced a problem
and will colse... do you wish to report it. Yes or No

Here is the Fun part if you select No All explorer windows close. If you select "report error"
it sends the report THEN closes everything.

This will happen 6 to 7 times a day.

    Any Idears guys

I have tried just about every virus scanner. It also happens weather or not I'm connected to the web.

    badger,
You can turn off this auto restart and or writing a log file and sending it to MS.

Right click on My Computer>properties>advanced. Under start up recovery>settings>system failure, uncheck the boxes as shown in the screenshot.

    Joe
whilst drawing my attention to Hans post, "to read troubleshooting WE" ect is appreciated. I read every Post and tried every suggestion.
As I have said previously I have googled the error message and there are dozens of proposed remedies, some I have tried and others are not applicable.

The problem did disappear for a few days but it is back. That is why I reposted my problem. If anyone has a constructive suggestion I would really appreciate it. If its to hard I suppose I will just have to live with it.

One thing I cannot understand is why Hans sugestion did not work, in theory it should have.

    Regards
    badger

During the few days when the problem did not appear, were you wroking differently? Running different applications? Had an external peripheral device on if it is normally off or off if it is normally on? When the error occurs do you have the opportunity to see more details? If yes, please view the details and post a screenshot.

Cant really recall working any differently during the three good days.
I have noticed that it occures most when I open Nero v7 and open windows explorer to drag file accross for burning.

it also occures a lot when I am updating a clients web page with Front Page 2003. Haveing said that it does occure at other times. I will start keeping track of when it exactly occures.

I am about to burn a disc but before I do I will clear the logs in Event Viewer and if somthing occures I should get the details.
will also send an image of the error message.

The error ocured while attempting to burn a new disc. I have taken 4 images. one of the error message and the other three from the fault captured by event viewer. will send the images in 2 or 3 seperate posts.

I only have trial-and-error for you today, so how 'bout a couple?

The two errors are either terribly misplaced, or you may have a network setting somewhere in your computer giving you an intermittent problem. See DNS Event ID 1000 and then DHCP Event ID 1002. Probably wouldn't hurt to look.

I know you've said it happens at other times, but how about a short "withdrawal period" of un-installing Nero 7.x.x.x to see if the problem stops? Stranger things have been known to happen. My sojourn with Nero was nowhere like this, but "stuff happens."
