    Saves Not Recognized (2007)

    Using Access 2007, I saved the database as 2003 and 2000 compatible. When I attempt to run the 2000 database on a machine with Office 2000, it gives the error that the database was created in a later version; same goes with the 2003 with Office 2003. Is this a bug? If someone has experienced this and can provide guidance, I will really appreciate it. Thanks!

    It's not entirely clear what you've done. The Access 2000 and Access 2002-2003 formats are different. Access 2000 cannot open databases in Access 2002-2003 format.

    Re: Saves Not Recognized (2007)

    Sorry, Hans. I was not clear enough. As you know, Access 2007 lets you save in 2007, 2003 and 2000 flavors. Since the PC at my office runs Office 2000 and a co-worker's runs Office 2003, I saved the database in 2000 and 2003 formats. My PC will not run the one saved in 2000 format. My co-worker's will not run the one saved in 2003 format; will run the one saved in 2000 format, though. I was wondering if this is a bug or if it is something to be expected and there is a work around. Hell will freeze over before my employer installs Office 2003 in my PC. Your guidance is appreciated. Thanks!

    I have no explanation for that. If you have so many problems, I'd avoid Access 2007 for the moment and stick with Access 2000.

    <Access 2007 lets you save in 2007, 2003 and 2000 flavors.>

    Does this mean I can still develop in Access 2000 and distribute Access 2000 front end to customers using Access 2007 and Backend in Access 2000 format?

    Thanks, John

    Re: Saves Not Recognized (2007)

    Access 2007 can work with Access 2000 format database without conversion, just like Access 2002 and 2003. So yes, Access 2007 users should be able to open an Access 2000 frontend to an Access 2000 backend.
