    'Paragraph' Formatting Within Cells (2003)

I would like to be able to "format" sections/paragraphs within a single cell by numbering paragraphs/sections, just like I am able to do in Word. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Use Word? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> Excel is not a word processing tool....
You will have to do manual formatting of the sections, I believe.

Excel has some text processing and formatting capabilities, but it is not a full-blown word processor. You can simulate some things by treating cells as paragraphs, but there is no support for automatically nunbering "paragraphs" within one cell.

    Rory, Hans, Steve,
How about this approach: before each bullet point/phrase, hold down Alt and press Enter. This should force each bullet point/phrase to its own separate line within the cell. Then, before each point/phrase, hold down Alt and type in from the number keypad "0149" (without the quotes).

Yes, that is a feasible method for creating bulleted text. You could also number lines manually.

But you started this thread by stating that you wanted "numbering paragraphs/sections, just like I am able to do in Word."
I assumed that you wanted automatic numbering, "just like I am able to do in Word". That is not possible within an Excel cell.

Yes, Hans, I got your message. I just figured out this semi-workaround!
At any rate, it works for me!
