There is a password on the VBA code in your workbook.

Pivot Table Problems (Excel/2003)

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by wdwells on 13-Feb-07 17:16. Attachment moved to subsequent post)</P>The attached workbook contains a stripped down example of my problem.

Initially: <UL><LI>cell "E7" of worksheet "Project_Focus" was set to 1 Oct 2006
<LI>Headcount Chart showed the "Sum of Oct 06" through the "Sum of Sep 07"
With the passage of time and under macro control:<UL><LI>cell "E7" of worksheet "Project_Focus" was set to 1 Mar 2007
<LI>The data in cells "J8:P18 was copied into cells "E8:K18" (realigning the data for Mar through Sep 07)
<LI>The data in cells "L8:P18" was deleted and repopulated with new data for Oct 07 through Feb 08
After this activity I have lost the last five months of data from my Pivot Chart. When I attempt to add a month back with:
<UL><LI>Show Field List,
<LI>Select "Oct 07", and
<LI>Add to Data Area
The month is added as "Count of Oct 07"

I have two needs:

1. <LI>Some guidance on how to recover the missing months as "Sum of...", and
<LI>Some help on developing code to achieve this automatically which I can integrate with the code I currently use to revise the timeframe.
Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

T.I.A.
Regards
Don

Hans
The code was removed from the first post. There was nothing in code dealing with the Pivot table.

I'm becoming confused. If there is no code involved, why is this thread in the VB/VBA forum?

Re: Pivot Table Problems (Excel/2003)

Sorry Hans

I have two needs that span both boards. The second is the most pressing.
<hr>
1. <LI>Some guidance on how to recover the missing months as "Sum of...", and
<LI>Some help on developing code to achieve this automatically which I can integrate with the code I currently use to revise the timeframe.
<hr>
If I can understand the code for recovering the data in my Pivot Table/Chart, I'm confident that I can integrate it into the existing code.

The full-blown version is being provided in a private message (126K).

Thanks again.
Regards
Don

Re: Pivot Table Problems (Excel/2003)

The easiest way to discover the code you need is to record a macro, and to clean up the generated code. Here is the code that adds "Sum of Oct 07" to the pivot table and pivot chart:

With Worksheets("Pivot").PivotTables("PivotTable5").Piv otFields("Oct 07")
.Orientation = xlDataField
.Caption = "Sum of Oct 07"
.Function = xlSum
End With

As you have found by now, you cannot attach a file to a PM. Please attach the code in a text file if it still necessary.
