Don't let your computer fall behind

Go to Don't let your computer fall behind and see what needs to be done.

    NOTE:
What to do if you use Windows XP SP1
Windows XP SP1 is no longer supported. For increased security, go to Microsoft Update to upgrade to Windows XP SP2.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Here it is, the early hours of the morning, and I don't seem to be able to go all the way through that link to the Win XP update for "time change law." It says repeatedly, not available. If that continues, it IS in the normal list of Windows Updates ( <!mskb=931836>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 931836<!/mskb> ).

Re: Don't let your computer fall behind

This does seem only to apply to those living, or intrinsically connected to, the US and Canada:

While the change in daylight saving time applies to U.S. and Canada, the change may impact customers based outside North America. Companies or organizations with operations, customers or vendors based in North America may be affected. In addition customers who interact or integrate with systems that are based in North America or rely on date/time calculations may be impacted. Customers who live outside North America and yet are impacted should follow the guidance provided on this site to prepare for the adjusted daylight saving time.

I assume that us simple folk living in (for example) Europe, Australasia, Asia and Africa do not need to update?

And I guess they just don't use Windows in South America or Antartica either.

Weeeeell... I did say "for example" so I wouldn't have to explicitly include or exclude Antarctica, because I should imagine the Yanks there probably do use US time

    Big Al,

I downloaded the time change update which, as you noted, is a part of all the updates (14 of them in the scan of my computer). All of them went without a hitch.

Re: Don't let your computer fall behind

Leif, I'm not trying to agitate what I think "may" be humour, but wouldn't you think that there ARE institutions like financial who have worldwide dealings that are date/time oriented (your quoted example) who need to know about this change? Granted, the Windows updates may not be important to them.

For others: I was a few MS updates behind, so I went (with IE) to the updates page and got my machine squared away, including the time change update.

Not true. There just aren't a lot of rest stops out there.

Also, Depends on the commander make stops unnecessary.
