    vlookup problem (excel 2000)

Why would a vlook up function return the first info it finds and keeps repeating it insted of progressing through the rows and list all the individual results with in the same dma. What is it that I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance for the help

The workbook you attached doesn't contain any formulas, so it is not clear what your question is about.

If I understand correctly, this is how VLOOKUP is designed. It finds the item that matches and presumes that only 1 item matches, so it always finds the first one.

Checkout my VlookupAll UDF Re: Lookup more than one row (2000). This may be closer to what you want...

    Re: vlookup problem (excel 2000)

    steve,

I do believe we are trying to hit the same target. Would I use =Vlookupall("a",A1:A52, 5,char(10)) as a formula in a cell to get all of the results of "a" that would have been listed in the data base a1:a52? And does the ..char(10) in the formula place each new listing on a seperate line?? If so ... how can I get this into my xl program to be accepted on my sheets?

    Thanks for taking the time.

    Re: vlookup problem (excel 2000)

It lookups and grabs the values in F1:F52 (5 cols from A) that match "a" in A1:A52.

Yes the Char(10) puts into a separate line

Add it into a module in the workbook to get them to work
