    Desktop icon size (Vista)

We recently received our new desktop and laptop with Vista. The icons on the desktop are large & bulky looking while those on the laptop are compact and just plain easier on the eyes. The icons on the desktop remind me of the UI in Safe Mode. I have our monitor, a 17" digital flatpanel, set to the highest resolution allowed by it, 1280 by 1024 (almost max on the resolution set-up scale/bar). If I set it to the highest setting the monitor just flickers. I checked the set-up on the laptop monitor and found its resolution setting is not available on the desktop. However, in my past experience using our earlier systems, I was always able to get the smaller icons on the desktop display and with lesser resolution capabilities than this new monitor. Any ideas????

Have you looked at the "Right clicking" of the desktop and select "View"?
    "Classic Icons" will give you the smallest icons! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

You sir, are my hero!!! I had checked the "right click" menu in the past but did not see the classic icon selection.

    Thank you very much.

    Chagrined but happy,

You can also hold down the Ctrl key and scroll with your mouse wheel to enlarge or reduce the size of the icons.
