Repeat Text in Different Cells in Word Table (Word 2000)

I'm brain dead this afternoon. I have a large multipage table and want to type text in Cell D3 (Bookmark Text2) and have it repeat in different cells throught the table. I did all the complicated formulas elsewhere in the table but can't remember the entry to repeat text. Help-how do I do it? Thanks so much!

I tried that and it doesn't work. It works in Excel but not Word. Do I have the wrong format or what?

OK, then try a cross reference to the bookmark Text2:
    - Click where you want to refer to the bookmarked text.
    - Select Insert | Cross Reference...
    - Select Bookmark in the Reference Type dropdown.
    - Select Text2 in the list of bookmarks.
    - Click Insert.

    Hi SRokita,

Word's formula fields only work on values, not text. To replicate text, you need to use bookmarks and REF fields. The trick to using bookmarks in a Table is to bookmark the cell's contents, not the cell itself (ie make sure the end-of-cell marker isn't selected when you add the bookmark). For more information, see <post#=365442>post 365442</post#>.

Macropod: I can't get it to work, I must be typing something wrong. HansV: The cross reference works, however, how can I get the result to appear without Updating Fields or setting the Tools, Options, Print, Printing Options, Update Fields? Anyway to do that automatically without more keystrokes? By the way, my form will ultimately be protected with password.

    Hi SRokita,

In a standard document, many fields don't update automatically when you change whatever they're referring to - you need to do something to cause them to update (eg Print Preview works with many). However, since you mention you're using a protected form, simply setting the formfield properties to 'calculate on exit' will be sufficient to cause any dependent fields to update automatically - once the document is protected for forms.

    Cheers
