Fonts (MS Office XP for students and teachers)

Is there any way I can get a wider array of fonts than what I now have on my MS Office XP? On our other computer we have MS Office 2003 and I really like that selection of fonts and would like to have that kind of selection on the Office XP version if it's somehow possible.

I don't know which fonts are included in which versions of Office. I noticed that 2007 has a default font that I have never heard of and I wonder what will happen when I send those documents to Office XP/2003 users. But I digress.

To see whether you might have fonts that were not included in your original installation, try starting the Office installer from the CD and choosing the "Add/Change" option. Anything additional there?

Microsoft Office 2003 installation package contains 190 additional fonts. Microsoft Office XP (2002) installation package contains only 165 additional fonts.
Only 9 fonts are identical, 18 more fonts are updated in 2003 version. 138 fonts are included in XP (2002) package, but not in 2003 package; 163 fonts are included in 2003 package only.

If you choose to install Office 2003 over XP (2002) version, all previously installed fonts will remain intact.
Technically, you can copy fonts from WINDOWSFonts folder on one of your computers to another (using "Install new font" wizard); but legally the issue is not clear (font copyrights belong not to Microsoft).

No luck in getting any more fonts from the installation CD. I see on the internet when I search for "fonts" there are some places offering free downloads of fonts, but I feel a little bit hesitant about that. I mean what is their gimmick? I was wondering if a CD of some of these Word 2003 fonts could be purchased to add to my XP Office program? Would that be a way to go?

Search the internet for some fonts that YOU like and that you would use. No, need in installing fonts that you do NOT want to use. Most of the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> fonts sites have a lot of fonts that look the same, just different names.

Remember that if you are going to "Share" files using any NON-standard font, the other users MUST have them installed on their machines or they (the fonts) must be embedded in the file(s).

What ever you do, do NOT use them on a web page, unless you have links to the fonts so they can be downloaded and installed on the visitors machines.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Unfortunately, you did not specify how you tried to achieve it. Was there any problem to unzip OFFICE1.CAB file ? Of all fonts you extracted from cab file were already installed?
It is difficult to help you without knowing the nature of your problem.

Oh.... I didn't know I was looking for OFFICE 1. CAB file. You've got a true certifiable "dummy" here. I just thought I was looking for a file named "Fonts". Anyway, what I've done in the meantime is get the "Font" file from the WINDOWS folder in my computer that has the Office 2003 on it (Maybe I could have gotten it from the Office 2003 CD since I have that as well). Then (all this via thumbdrive) I dragged and dropped the fonts I wanted from that Font folder into the Font folder on the computer with Office XP on it. It worked fine. So I'm a happy camper. (first I tried to drag the whole folder, or copy the whole folder into the Office XP fonts file but for some reason it wouldn't let me do that)
I'm glad I was able to do it this way because I don't know about this "unzip" kind of thing you mention. It sounds like it might be too complex for my brain. And as far as legalities, since I "own" the Office 2003 - the CD at any rate, it seems legit to me.
Thanks to everyone for your input.
