    Disappearing folders (2000)

I have a user who has a number of email addresses and who uses rules to sort incoming mail into subfolders of the inbox set up for each acount.

He has two problems. One is that the rules dont always work and the second is that the subfolders sometimes disappear. This is using POP mail, so the .pst file is located on the users machine.

Any ideas of what may be going on here?

See "outlook 2000" rules not fire - Google Search for some information on rules not working in Outlook 2000. See "outlook 2000" folders disappear - Google Search for some sketchy information on folders disappearing.

    Joe,

    A follow up report.

My rule had said "when mail arrives from <this account>, put in <this folder>" but the reading indicated that I needed the <this account> to be listed as a contact as well and an extra bit added to my rule.

Now my rule says "when mail arrives from <this account> addressed to <this contact> put in <this folder>"

So far so good. The mail is being put in the correct folder. And so far, the folder has not disappeared. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that the one change has fixed both problems.

Don't forget to add the 'and stop processing more rules' option (if applicable) as this can stop unnecessary processing if there are further rules.
