Can't see html file contents (7)

I'm trying to use DIY map (http://www.backspace.com/mapapp/) and find that I can't see the contents of html files (map samples) that I download. I see the outline of the box the map is meant to appear in, but no map. It still happens when I click to 'allow blocked content'. Same thing happens with Firefox. I tried turning off various things in the security centre, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Did you carefully follow the directions on DIY Map: Create clickable maps in Flash?

Yes, I think so. Even had some email correspondence with the guy who runs the site. He seemed to think it might be a browse problem. A pal had the same problem with the maps- though he said he could see them using Contribute - which I don't have. Is there any particular recommended browser for this kind of thing?

I haven't loaded IE7, but in IE6, there are distinct differences in security settings between the My Computer zone and the Internet Zone. By default, ActiveX controls like the Flash player are permitted on the Internet, but if I recall correctly, they are restricted on local drives. Not sure whether this is relevant to your test page.
