    Microsoft Games (XP SP2)

Is there a proper forum concerning software issues for Microsoft modules that allow the Flight sims to operate properly with XP SP2 ?

If not , what sites are available.
    Thanks

I don't know of any particular forum dedicated to these issues.
What particular problems are you having and what version of Flight Sim?

I DO know that when I tried the latest FS version on my machine it ran like a turtle.......Slow.
And my system is fairly well equipped to run most any system hog.

I finally dumped it but it was only a trial version anyway. No loss.

Thanks for replying. I downloaded Combat FS 2 WWII Pacific Theater from game discs I bought a few years ago. I used them on a Win 98 machine and they seemed to run OK. Also ran discs for a Sidewinder joystick and got to take a test flight. Then I exited game and later restarted and a window kept appearing telling me that there was an issue with a game module app. and it would not let the game run. I went to a Microsoft site that targeted this particular message and it listed 5 or 6 maneuvers to try. Tried most and nothing worked. Ref. kb 817496. Still do not understand what module they were referring to. I'm lost! Thanks.

Did you download and install the MS fix that was recommended in MSKB817496 ?

Also the Microvision update that it recommended?

Is this an older FS version, since you used it on a WIN98 machine?
If so, maybe you have to try running it in "compatibility mode" to have it run under XP.

If it doesn't work in "Compatibility Mode" with XP, what about using MS Virtual Machine (which I believe is stil l a free download) and creating a Win98 virtual machine on your XP PC. I've had some success with the earlier versions of Tomb Raider, which are about 10 years old and can't/won't run on native XP.

    Re: Microsoft Games (XP SP2)

Downloaded MS fix from MS website and seems to be running OK now.

This must have addressed KB817496 issue. Could not locate Microvisions fix. I'll let you know if anything changes.

    Thanks for the input. TMJ
