Sequential document numbering (Word 2002 SP-2)

We have a 20-page document that, for security reasons, needs to be numbered sequentially. i.e. the same serial number in the footer of every page of each individual copy. The document layout demands a different header and footer on the first page

    Hi geoff,

It's actually quite easy to use the macro in <post#=227,325>post 227,325</post#> as is. What you need to do is to:
. type a number formatted as '00000' (eg '00001') on your cover page at the position where you want the serial number to be printed.
. select the number and use Insert|Bookmark to assign the name 'Serial' to it.
. add a cross-reference (via Insert Cross-reference) to the 'Serial' bookmark in each unlinked footer in the document
Having done that, you can now run the macro.
    Cheers,
