Have run into a problem with a new laptop preloaded with vista home premium - 1 g memory - 120 g hd. upon setting up accounts for email etc. initially had no problem - however after a few days the following happened upon logging into window live messenger the program refused my log in constantly(no network involved). As I am now university the home site uses a xp pro server to connect and I cannot log in their either error code 80040306 had come up a couple of time. Any suggestion would be appreciated to help my son's problem.

Check to see if you the correct server name listed in your connection. As I find that error number means "Server Unreachable"
Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Found this link in one the microsoft community sites - which fix the problem! Try this:
- Click start
- Type: cmd
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
