    Header row on import (2003)

I often import TSV/CSV text files into Excel 2003. The file may contain a header row that bears field names. I recall that, in some earlier versions, I had the option to tell Excel that the first record contained field names. I don't see that in my 2003 text import wizard dialog boxes. Am I mising something? Thanks.

Excel 2000 doesn't have an option concerning first row containing headers.

Maybe you're have cross program memories. Access does have the option of first row containing the column header.

Thanks. I take it that 2003 also doesn't have that feature.

Re: Header row on import (2003)

In all versions of Excel I know, the first screen of the Text Import Wizard has a box for "Start import at row", which is set to 1 by default. If you don't want to import the first row, set this to 2.

But there has never been an option concerning field names, since that doesn't apply to Excel - as mbarron suggested, that is a feature of the Text Import Wizard in Microsoft Access.
