    Protecting Cells (2003 sp2)

    Good morning

I have 2 drop down selection boxes on a worksheet, 1 for a postcode selection and the 2nd for a vehicle size, depending on the selection a rate is displayed in a cell, I am trying to hide the formulas in that cell as follows

    1. With the cursor within that specific cell - Format Cell - Protection - Selected locked and hidden
    2. Tools protection - Protect Sheet (3 boxes are checked, Protect Worksheet,Select Locked Cells and Select Unlocked Cells) enter and confirm password - close

When I then click on anything in my drop downs I get an error message which is quite obvious saying that as the cell is locked it is read only. I cannot seem to get my head around solving this, any clues please

    Thank you

    Steve
    Cheers

Have you selected the cells with the dropdowns and cleared the Locked check box in the Protection tab of Tools | Options...? By default, *all* cells in a worksheet are locked, you have to unlock the cells that the user should be able to change.

    Don't worry! It's a trap most of us have fallen into at least once. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
