Dual problem - Firefox vs everything else (FF1.5.

I sure do hope someone recognise these symptoms and can help me get it sorted because it's driving me absolutely nuts!!

Since I installed the last update to Firefox, about a week ago, I can't copy text in any Firefox window. If I want to copy something, I have to type it in Word or an Outlook email and copy it there, then come back in and paste the text wherever I wanted to put it - I can't copy anything at all in here. For instance I posted this problem in another site (with no real hope of a fix since it's a very small membership of mostly non-techie people) and wanted to repost it here, where there's a much better chance - but I'm having to type it again from scratch since I can't copy it ...

The other part of the problem is that I can't log into almost any site in any other browser - including here. I've got IE7 and I just downloaded Opera 9.10 and both of them do the same thing - try to log in to here or any other site that requires a login, and it just bounces me back to the log in window.

    This is driving me absolutely nuts!! <img src=/S/crazy.gif border=0 alt=crazy width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edited to add - I've just downloaded Netscape 8.1.2 and this appears to be willing to let me both copy text and login to my favourite sites (including here!) so my problem is not quite so desparate any more - but I would still very much appreciate a fix to one or both of the other problems, as I much prefer using Firefox if I can!

    Beryl,
I have no idea of what is causing your problem, but since it is associated with a recent update you made to Firefox I would suggest completely removing Firefox from your system and then do a fresh download of the latest version and reinstall.

Did you upgrade to version 2.0.0.1 over a previous version in the 1.5 series? Some themes and/or extensions are not fully compatible. As a general diagnostic, you can try a new profile, as described in this Firefox support article: Creating a new Firefox profile on Windows @ MozillaZine Knowledge Base. If that doesn't help, see this article: Clipboard not working @ MozillaZine Knowledge Base.

Hi Jefferson, I'll check out those links but I'm still on the 1.5 series - 1.5.0.9, to be exact.
