Epson only prints half page (Win XP R2 Media Center Edition)

Loungers to the rescue again please! my Epson Stylus Photo RX600 printer has decided to only print half pages before it 'dies' - just sticks in the middle with 'printing' showing but nothing happens.

I have visited the Epson site to no avail, have tried looking for latest drivers, but there only seems to be one from 2005 for Win XP 64 bit edition - is this what I have got? I followed the instructions to check, but mine only says 'media center edition'. If so is this the latest driver or could there be another problem?

    Help gratefully received as ever

I wouldn't think you have the 64 bit version but you can download this great system information program from HERE ( System Information for WIndows )

It will tell you everything you have ever wanted to know about your system, hardware, etal.

I would go to Device Manager and uninstall your printer, then reboot and let it reinstall it with the default Windows drivers.

or go to Start>Settings>printers and delete the printer and let it reinstall on the reboot.

What was happen when printer problem occurred - did you install a new program, add a new hardware, made any other "improvements" ?
The most recent driver (Printer Driver v.5.5aA for Windows XP and Windows 2000) has a date of 10/13/04 - you probably have it. Make sure your printer installation use this driver: click Start > Printers and Faxes; in Printers and Faxes window right-click the icon representing your printer and from pop-up menu select Properties; click Advanced tab; click New Driver button and follow the wizard.

Thx Bob and also to my other respondent - I reinstalled the original driver (which I have actually done before but the problem recurred) which did the trick this time, but I also reduced the size of the graphics I was trying to print. These were Photoshop files - do you think it could be anything to do with the buffer for printing as they were large files?
    TIA

I don't think the size of the graphics would cause the printer to just stop and "choke". But then again, stranger things have happened. My best bet would be the reinstall of drivers, etc.

The important thing is, you seem to be back in business with your printer. <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23>
